Interested in joining the lab?

We are currently actively hiring for two positions in the lab. For both positions, we highly encourage first-generation students and students from groups historically underrepresented in STEM fields to apply.

1) Postdoctoral Researcher in Neuroendocrinology, Transcriptomics, and Animal Behavior

We are currently recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to work on NSF CAREER-funded projects using transcriptomic approaches to study neophobia behavior in house sparrows. The postdoc is also expected to develop at least one independent project building on lab expertise in stress physiology, neurobiology, and behavior. Ideal start date is January 2024 (although earlier may be possible). Salary is $59,000/year and includes health insurance; up to 3 years of funding is available.

If interested, please apply through the LSU Workday job site, and submit: 1) a cover letter with a brief description of research interests and experiences, 2) a current CV/resume, 3) a research product of some kind (paper, pre-print, poster, etc.), 4) two letters of recommendation. Applications should be submitted by October 1, 2023 for full consideration. Experience in neuroendocrinology, computational biology, or working with birds is helpful, but not required.

2) PhD Students in Neurobiology, Ecoimmunology, Endocrinology, and Behavior

We are currently recruiting PhD Students to develop lab or field-based projects examining neurobiology, ecoimmunology, endocrinology, and behavior in wild birds. We are particularly interested in students who want to work on projects related to the neuroendocrine mechanisms underlying neophobia behavior and developmental stress caused by parasites and pathogens. Graduate positions would begin in August 2024, and include 5 years of guaranteed support through Teaching Assistantships.

If interested, contact Christine Lattin (christinelattin@lsu.edu) and include: 1) a cover letter with a description of your research interests and experiences, 2) a current CV/resume, 3) contact information for three references, 4) a research product of some kind, if available (poster, publication, etc.). Graduate applications are due January 3, 2024 for Fall 2024 admission.

If you are interested in joining the Lattin Lab as an undergraduate researcher, or are interested in a potential scientific collaboration, please reach out via the form below!
